In groups of four, discuss World War II.
- What springs to mind when you hear the word?
- What do you know about the war in terms of how it started, how the different countries got involved, who were allied with whom, who were neutral etc.?
- How did it end?
- World War II has been seen as the dawning of a new era of Barbarianism. Two places are associated with this image, Auschwitz and Hiroshima. What do you know about these two places and the symbolic role they play in World War II?
