  • OpenDemocracyUK: Part of the larger website openDemocracy, this UK-focused subsite provides critical analysis and commentary on the state of British democracy and current issues in British politics from a centre-left perspective.

  • House of Commons Library: The House of Commons Library is an independent and impartial research and information service for Members of Parliament and their staff. Its research papers, e.g., on social and economic issues, are publicly available.
  • Institute of Economic Affairs: The Institute of Economic Affairs is a free market think tank that was founded in 1955. Its mission is to analyse and expound the role of markets in solving economic and social problems.
  • Institute for Fiscal Studies:The Institute for Fiscal Studies was founded in 1969 as an independent research institute with the principal aim of better informing public debate on economics. It covers a wide range of subjects from tax and benefits to education and labour market policy. 
  • Joseph Rowntree Foundation:The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is an independent social change organisation working to solve poverty in Britain. Among other things, the Foundation publishes a yearly “UK Poverty Report”.
  • Nuffield Trust: The Nuffield Trust is an independent think tank that provides evidence-based research and policy analysis on health issues.
  • Office for National Statistics: The Office for National Statistics is the recognised UK national statistics institute, responsible for collecting and publishing statistics related to the economy, population and society.
  • Resolution Foundation:The Resolution Foundation is an independent think tank focused on improving the living standards of those on low-to-middle incomes. It provides evidence-based analysis across a wide range of economic and social policy areas.
  • Trussel Trust: The Trussel Trust is a nationwide network of food banks that campaigns to end the need for emergency food aid in the UK. The Trust uses evidence to campaign for change, sharing this evidence with policy makers and the public to ensure they understand the state of hunger and poverty in Britain.

  • Runnymede Trust: The Runnymede Trust is an independent think tank that works to generate research to challenge racial inequality in the UK.
  • The Migration Observatory:Based at the University of Oxford, the Migration Observatory provides impartial, evidence-based analysis of data on migration and migrants in the UK, to inform media, public and policy debates, and to generate high quality research on international migration and public policy issues.

  • Ofcom: Ofcom is the regulator of communications services in the UK. The website contains a wide range of research, data and statistics on media and news consumption in the country.
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sports:The Department for Culture, Media and Sports [kulturministeriet] is a ministerial department, supported by 42 agencies and public bodies, that focuses on supporting culture, arts, media, sport, tourism and civil society across every part of the country.
  • BBC Culture: BBC Culture is a useful guide to contemporary film, art, TV, music, books, etc. in the UK.

  • The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office: The British Foreign Office works to promote Britain’s interests abroad. It publishes various documents, including press releases, speeches, and policy papers.
  • Chatham House: Chatham House is a think tank that has been a source of independent analysis of foreign policy and international affairs for more than a hundred years.
  • The European Council on Foreign Relations:The European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) is a think-tank that conducts independent research on European foreign and security policy.
  • The Royal Services Institute: The Royal Services Institute (RUSI) is an independent think tank that provides analysis of the latest developments in defence, security, and international affairs.
